The James Bay Beacon is a community newspaper, open to anyone who wants to share information and offer an opinion of interest to the people of James Bay. 'The Beacon' – as volunteers affectionately call it – came into being in 1992 as a successor to the time-honoured James Bay News.
The trustees and volunteers are committed to voicing the concerns and interests of the residents of James Bay, both individual and corporate, to promote community pride and to educate readers as to their rights and responsibilities. The Beacon is a non-profit organization, which allows it to speak with a voice representative of the people who make up the community of James Bay.
We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia and City of Victoria through Neighbourhood Development funds.
