Starting in early March, Niagara Street will be used for assembly and welding of pipe sections. These sections will then be placed in the underground sewage line that is being drilled under the harbour.
The Niagara St assembly work will take about five weeks, and will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. In the final week, work will continue around the clock.
There will be no parking or vehicle access on Niagara St from South Turner St. to Dallas Rd. Local pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, as will emergency vehicle access to the area. Those who live on Niagara St. will be able to park on nearby side streets. These side streets will in general be closed, except to local traffic and deliveries.
An information and assistance tent will be set up on Niagara St. near James Bay Community School to answer questions and help resolve problems.
