For the past 44 years members of James Bay New Horizons Society have been able to take part in a Friday Forum every week from September to June. Put on for New Horizon's members by volunteer organizers from the society, the forum is a miscellany of speakers, travelogues, performances, practical demonstrations and other fascinating topics. Attendance has always been restricted to society members.
Commencing Friday, September 14, at 10 in the morning, we are changing the attendance rules for this function. All members of the public are invited to attend our forum sessions. These are interesting and will give guests a good idea of the things New Horizons is involved in. It could encourage even more members to join our society, the largest of its type in Victoria.
On September 14 the VIP Choir will be performing. Under the skilled direction of Marcellina Stanton, this group will present popular music done with their special flair.
On the 21 we'll be considering the prospect of Amalgamation in the Victoria region.
Final September session, on the 28, will bring us an All Candidates Meeting for all prospective candidates for Mayor. If you would like to ask questions of individual candidates, this is the place to do it.
On October 5 we will have an All Candidates Meeting for prospective Members of City Council. Again, your chance to ask questions.
There is no admission charge for the sessions. Coffee, tea and biscuits are available with a donation. Starting time is 10am Fridays.
The program continues until our Canada Day picnic on the last Friday morning in June, the 28 in 2019.
