Poem: The Light in Darkness

On the patio two red blossoms
Cling to a Fuchsia plant performing
Their last dance of the season
As the wind twirls them around
In a clay pot.

The long dark nights expose
Trees bereft of leaves
Branches playfully silhouetted
Against the cold ethereal moon stir
Galleries of imagination.

Above earth’s darkness
Millions of stars and their suns
Light up the earth with
Galaxies and a north star
For direction

We surrender to the vagaries of nature
To enjoy all this light in darkness
As the year grows old.
