On Tuesday, April 9, the James Bay Community Project celebrated and thanked its volunteers with a special tea party in the Family Centre at 547 Michigan St.
More than 30 revered volunteers came along that Tuesday afternoon to share yummy snacks and a piece of ‘Thank You’ cake with fellow volunteers and grateful JBCP staff.
“We have more than 300 active volunteers,” said Kristyn Laver, JBCP Coordinator of Volunteers and Community Programs. “We’re not overstating the case when we say we couldn’t provide the services we do without the compassion and care of our volunteers.”
JBCP volunteers help with many things, including driving participants to medical appointments, helping in the Community Closet Thrift Shop, being friendly visitors to isolated seniors in the neighbourhood, helping in the Family Centre (making snacks, reading to children, and tidying up), and working with children and families in the JBCP Children’s Community Garden.
The celebration was part of Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 7 – 13.
