Poem: The Simple Penny

Take a penny from your purse or pocket,
Put it into the palm of your hand.
Now take it between thumb and forefinger,
So you can turn it about on command.

It will first appear as a circle,
The same as the shape of the sun,
But then it becomes an oval ,
Getting smaller at every slight turn.

It finally looks like a rectangle,
No sign of a circle is found,
And then it becomes an oval again,
As the penny keeps turning around.

Thus, a simple thing like a penny,
Has many facets to see,
Depending on light and time of day,
It looks different to you and me.

Perhaps this explains the reason,
A fact that appears to be true.
That what we see in life today,
Depends on our point of view!
