Poem: Summers Morning Reverie

A summer’s morning swimming in sunlight
sparrows dart dive in a playful dogfight
humming birds honey bees nectar zonked
turtle clambers onto log half sunk.

As for me, lazing on the patio
no honey to harvest, no skills to hone
and like the turtle in the pond
life is good, floating in the sun.

In my idle mind, thoughts inane
dogfight, darting diving climbing
to the sun, spluttering stalling falling.
Some falling in flame, others fly again.
rose, or prosecco, what’s your poison?
Idle minds spawning idle notions.
